Keeping Health Up…and Costs Down

Your medical coverage helps you and your family stay healthy through preventive care, wellbeing and behavioral health services, while providing a financial safety net when you do need medical care. In fact, Grainger’s medical benefits focus on keeping you and your family as healthy as possible, while managing the cost of health care for both you and the company.

You have a choice of four coverage tiers:

  • You Only
  • You + Spouse/Domestic Partner*
  • You + Child(ren)
  • You + Family (spouse/domestic partner and child[ren])*

*Coverage for domestic partners and dependents of domestic partners is subject to imputed income for the team member.

Medical Coverage Overview

Most team members can choose from among three options for coverage. All three options are “Preferred Provider Organizations” (PPOs).

  • The HSA Silver Plan: a high deductible health plan with a Health Savings Account feature.
  • The HSA Gold Plan: a high deductible health plan with a Health Savings Account feature to which Grainger also contributes.
  • The POS Platinum Plan: a “traditional” health plan, with higher premiums and lower deductible levels.
A Health Savings Account lets you pay your share of health care with tax-free money in an account you can build up year-to-year, effectively reducing your actual cost for services. These plans have lower premiums and higher deductibles.
Features Found in All Three Medical Options

Wellness Services
  • Virtual Medicine, for you and your covered dependents, provides convenient 24/7 access to Board-certified doctors – via smartphone, tablet or computer with video – when you need help with a routine or non-emergency health matter, such as cold/flu symptoms, allergies, ear infections and many others. Within minutes of the diagnosis, a doctor can send a new prescription or refill order to your local pharmacy. The cost for a call is set by your medical plan, but it is usually less than $50 in the HSA Silver and HSA Gold Plans and less than the office visit copay in the POS Platinum Plan.
