Virtual Medical/Behavioral Health Visits

For less than the cost of an office visit, you can connect via your smartphone, tablet or computer with a board-certified doctor for urgent care and prescription refills 24/7. This can be especially helpful when you cannot get in to see your regular doctor or do not want to take the time to go to an urgent care facility or emergency room. This benefit is available to participants enrolled in the Grainger Silver, Gold or Platinum medical plans.

Expert Medical Opinion

For team members or family members who are feeling uncertain about their medical diagnosis or treatment, expert medical opinion provides access to nationally recognized doctors from the comfort of your home. You can get answers your questions about a diagnosis, surgery, procedure, medications and treatment plans. This benefit is available to participants enrolled in the Grainger Silver, Gold or Platinum medical plans.

Voluntary Benefits

“Voluntary Benefits” are benefit programs where team members can buy coverage directly from the insurance company at group rates, and Grainger doesn’t subsidize the cost, as with many of your other benefits. MetLife is our vendor partner for providing Voluntary Benefits coverage.

What’s Changing in 2022

Effective January 1, 2022

Health Care Premiums

Increases to medical and dental premiums. No
Increase for vision care.

Tobacco Surcharge

For medical coverage, a surcharge if you and/or your
spouse/domestic partner attest to using tobacco.

Dental for Part-Time Team Members

For team members with part-time benefits,
you can elect dental coverage

Medical Plan Out-of-Network Coverage

In the Silver and Gold medical plans, the deductible
and out-of-pocket maximum will be increased – but
only for care provided outside the network.

New Administrator: HSA, FSAs

HealthEquity will replace Alight Smart-Choice for the
Health Savings Account, Dental and Vision Flexible
Spending Account, Dependent Care Account and
Commuter Benefit Account.

Life Insurance and AD&D

Coverage will change from 1.5 times pay to 1 times pay.

Optional Life and LTD Costs

Optional Life Insurance costs will decrease.
Long-Term Disability costs will increase.

Enrollment Is Now Optional

New this year: if you don’t enroll, you will keep the
same medical coverage as in 2021. However, you need to enroll if you want different medical or dental coverage, plan to contribute to an HSA or FSA, need to attest to using tobacco, or need to update your dependents.

The last 18 months have pulled us in all sorts of directions and presented several new challenges. Many of you have had to adapt to an ever-changing lifestyle that includes homeschooling kids, working overtime, taking care of loved ones, and worrying about finances. That’s why we’ve made some enhancements to our benefits programs to better support your emotional, financial, physical, and social wellbeing. These new programs will provide access to short-term cash, one-on-one financial coaching, or stress management support. Over the last year, we built a strong foundation of wellbeing resources to ensure you have more choice and flexibility with your benefits.

This Annual Enrollment Decision Guide will help you navigate the robust benefits that Grainger offers and support you in making your elections for 2022. Annual Enrollment will run from October 11 to 29, 2021. Now is the time for you to take action for you and your family’s wellbeing. We have more plans underway to continue to enhance our wellbeing offerings and we’re excited to share these with you soon.
